my name is Ciaran Murphy
Who am I?
I am from Ireland. Since 2004, I have been an English teacher (holding a Master’s degree from University College, Cork, Ireland; Cambridge CELTA and DELTA certificates; and the Teaching Business English Certificate from the London Chamber of Commerce). In 2012, I became an IELTS examiner and a teacher trainer for TKT and CELTA courses.
I have worked directly with over 3,000 students from around the world while living in Ireland, France, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, and Spain. I have collaborated with prestigious language teaching institutions such as the British Council, International House, and secondary schools with international curricula, whose students gain admission to the most renowned universities worldwide. I have taught general English, business English, specialized English, and conversation classes, but my true passion lies in exam preparation courses.
I have helped over 3,000 students reach their language goals.
As a teacher and examiner, I support people who, thanks to their English certification, have gained admission to their dream university, secured their dream job or promotion, or moved to their ideal country.
Helping people achieve their real life goals and fulfill their dreams has inspired me to dedicate my work to exam courses — to develop and refine teaching methods that enable my students to achieve the best possible results in the shortest time.

How do I work with students?
Over many years of working with students aiming to pass the English exam, I have gained insights into the most common challenges and problems they face. Based on this, I have created teaching methods tailored to my students’ needs.
You might not know exactly what will be required of you on the exam. You may have browsed hundreds of websites and YouTube channels but still struggle to assess which materials are valuable, which resources to choose, and where to start. Perhaps you’ve taken the exam before but didn’t get the desired result — either on the whole exam or on a specific component.
You want to structure your studying, have a plan and achieve your goal.
You want to know if you’re making progress, what mistakes you’re making, and what you can improve. You want to test yourself with practice exams and receive reliable feedback.
I work with my students using a proven system:
What’s your language level?
First, we jointly determine your current level — whether you’re ready to approach the exam and pass with your desired score, or if there are skills that still need improvement and how to address them.
What are your needs?
We assess your exam needs — for example, whether to review everything or only specific parts, what language resources you have, and what areas need development. We evaluate which exam strategies you can already use and which ones you need to learn.
How much time do you have?
We look at your available time — whether and how much time you can realistically dedicate between lessons for self-study and preparation.
What are your expectations?
We adjust the program to your expectations — such as passing the exam within a certain timeframe and achieving a specific result.
Based on this information, I create a personalized study plan for you.
Next, you can choose to study independently or enroll in one of my courses — either individual or group-based.
Why work with me?
Practice comes first
My courses focus on practical application — I believe students learn best by doing, so there will be no lectures or sole theory. We will work on real situations and exam tasks based on the plan we develop together.
Continuous Progress Tracking
Throughout the course, we will regularly monitor your progress through practical exercises and mock exams. This helps us identify areas for improvement early, adjust our approach if needed, and ensure you stay on track to meet your goals efficiently.
Effective strategies
You will learn the most effective exam strategies, which help you understand instructions precisely, identify key phrases, prioritize tasks to maximize your score, manage your time, and reduce stress. I will teach you how to use your existing language resources, or ones you will acquire during the course, and how to absorb and review material through retrieval practice.
Feedback
In both individual and group courses, each student receives feedback from me that focuses on future improvement and provides recommendations on how to get better in subsequent tasks (known as feedforward). We will focus on actions that directly translate into achieving your results and reaching your goal.
